The Pontiac GTO Judge came with a 350-bhp 400 ci as the standard V8. Judge's got the 366-bhp Ram Air III. The Ram Air IV engine option with a 4-speed transmission of course had oval port heads with 67cc combustion chambers. GTO's was one of the first cars to have an engery absorbing bumpers, the GTO's optional endura nose could withstand parking lot dents up to 4mph. Hidden headlights were a very popular option. Ram Air IV cars had a Safe-T-Track limited slip differential. If the 3.90:1 gears weren't steep enough, a set of 4.33:1's could be ordered. Pontiac only made 8 Firebird Trans AM convertibles in 1969, over the years many enthusiasts decided to build their own. By 1974, only General Motors could offer anything even close to the performance of the late 60s and early 70s with the Chevrolet Corvette and the more powerful Super Duty Trans Am with a SD-455ci. The TransAM by the mid 70s began putting a shaker hood scoop on all of their models. The Olds 442 had plenty of horsepower with 400-ci V8 engine, however this street machine has been modified to harness a 455-ci that makes the power only found in the limited edition Hurst-modified cars. The Cutlass 442 super sports car could not out run a GTO Ram Air V but could sure come awful close. In 1962 Buick came out with the first Skylark and Special. The Skylark GS was one of the most revered and fastest automobiles that ever came off the GM assembly line. The rear bumpers on the GS models usually had cut-outs in it.
